My name is Abhijit Kumar Das, and I am from Paschim Patichara village in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon. From an early age, I knew I was different. Although I was born male, I was naturally drawn to clothing, beauty, and self-expression traditionally associated with women.
This difference made my childhood difficult. I grew up facing ridicule, mockery, and humiliation. I managed to continue my studies through college, but persistent social pressure eventually forced me to leave. Even then, I refused to give up. I was determined to turn my passion into a profession.
That turning point came through BRAC’s entrepreneurship training, which showed me a clear path forward. During the training, I learned customer management, income–expenditure tracking, hygiene standards, and the fundamentals of running a beauty parlour.

While still in training, I started a small parlour from my home. Gradually, my bridal makeup work began to gain recognition and appreciation. Today, I earn around BDT 20,000 per month. Despite negative social attitudes, I stand today as a confident and proud entrepreneur.
My journey proves that success is not defined by society’s rigid gender norms, but by skill, self-belief, and courage.
