My name is Eva Biswas. I was once known as a teacher, and I also taught young children at a coaching center. Teaching was not just my profession—it was my identity, my source of joy.
But everything changed at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown. Within just two days, my coaching center was forced to close. Suddenly, all sources of income were cut off, and the future seemed uncertain and dark.
During this challenging time, my husband encouraged me. He suggested I join BRAC’s PROMISE training program. At first, I hesitated—could I really do it? Yet, I decided to give it a try.

The training completely transformed my thinking. I realized that there is a big difference between simply selling something and creating something of your own. That’s when I decided—I want to create something unique.
I started from my own kitchen. I began making jams, jellies, and pickles using fresh olives and fruits from the market. Through trial and error, I learned how to maintain quality and ensure longer shelf life. I even designed the product labels myself.
Throughout this journey, my husband has been my greatest support. He helps collect fruits and assists with heavy work. Together, we named our venture “Sweet Spoon by Eva.”

In the beginning, the hardest part was selling my products. Gradually, I gained confidence and started participating in fairs and exhibitions, letting people taste my creations. To my delight, those who tried them once came back again. At one large fair, we sold many jars within just ten days. That moment made me truly believe—I can do this.
Today, I produce 18 different types of pickles and processed foods. I am no longer unemployed—I am an entrepreneur, a successful entrepreneur. I believe that trust and quality are the driving forces behind any business.
I now tell other women: don’t just wait for a job. Discover your inner potential. With the right training and family support, even a crisis can become an opportunity.
