Losing Sight, Not Dreams

Md. Nowshad Hossain Mondal | Entrepreneur | Panchbibi, Joypurhat | Grocery Shop

My name is Md. Nowshad Hossain Mondal, and I am from Danepur village in Panchbibi upazila, Joypurhat. I grew up in a family of five with very limited means. My father was a day laborer, and our income was barely enough to get by. I studied up to grade eight, but when my father fell ill, the responsibility of supporting the family fell on my shoulders.

I began learning electrical work to help make ends meet. But life had more challenges in store. One day, while working in the market, I suffered an accident that injured my eye, leaving me partially blind in one eye. The years that followed were filled with struggle and hardship.

In 2024, I learned about BRAC’s entrepreneurship training. I enrolled and gained valuable skills in business planning, accounting, and customer management. After completing the training, I rented a shop on Danepur Road and started a small grocery business. Gradually, I earned the trust of my customers and grew my income. Today, I am able to support my family entirely on my own earnings, save for the future, and have gained recognition in the local market.

My journey proves that with courage, skill, and opportunity, even the most difficult circumstances can be transformed.
