My name is Md. Asadul Islam, and I come from a village in Natore Sadar. I am the sixth child in my family. My father worked as a van driver and struggled constantly to support our household.
Due to financial hardship, I could not pursue much education. From a young age, I had to work. I began learning ironwork and welding at a local workshop. I acquired many skills hands-on, but I didn’t know how to turn them into a business.

I always dreamed of owning my own workshop. But at the time, I had neither money, business knowledge, nor the confidence to start. When I learned about BRAC’s entrepreneurship training, I enrolled in their three-month Skills Development course. There, I learned business planning, accounting, customer management—and most importantly, I gained confidence in myself.
After completing the training, I used my savings to rent a small shop and launched Asadul Engineering Workshop. The beginning was far from easy. The cost of raw materials and financial pressure made it challenging, but I never gave up.

Today, my workshop handles welding, ironwork, and repairs. I earn about 40–50 thousand BDT per month, and I have also created work opportunities for others.
I firmly believe that with the right training and determination, even a difficult life can be transformed. Today, I am no longer just a worker in someone else’s shop—I am an entrepreneur.
