Abed Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Oxford University
BRAC Founder and Chairperson, Fazle Hasan Abed, was awarded the honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom for his role as "a tireless defender of the needy". BRAC continues to provide emergency relief support in Barisal, Bagerhat, Khulna and Sathkira
As of 15th June, total number of dry food packets (gur, 2 litre bottled water, ORS) distributed to number of families:- Barisal- 5,200; Bagerhat- 4,500; Khulna- 16,550; Sathkira- 12,000.
Meal (5 kg rice, 1 kg dal, 0.5 kg oil, 1 kg potato, 0.5 kg salt, 4 packets ORS) and matches distributed to number of families:- Khulna- 7,500; Sathkira- 6,500.
Plastic sheets (for those who have sought refuge on embankments, roads or other high ground) distributed to number of families: - Khulna- 4,500; Sathkira- 2,500.
Biscuits (3 pack biscuits and 0.5 litre water) distributed to number of children: - Bagerhat - 959; Khulna- 1,917; Sathkira- 898.
Water distributed (10 litres per family) to number of families: - Bagerhat- 2,000; Khulna- 26,399; Sathkira- 30,189.
44 ponds in Bagerhat have been dewatered which were inundated with saline water.
