BRAC has announced an initial support package of BDT 5 million for the families affected by the devastating fire in Korail. BRAC staff are on the ground assessing the damage and providing essential support to affected families to help them regain a sense of normalcy as soon as possible.

The fire broke out in Korail slum at around 5:30pm on Tuesday. After extensive efforts, firefighters were finally able to bring the fire under control. However, by then, many homes had already been reduced to ashes.

In Korail and other slums across Dhaka, BRAC has previously provided cash and other forms of assistance following such fires and other emergencies.
