With a focus on quality education and the holistic development of children, BRAC Academy has officially begun its journey in Dhaka. By emphasising values-based learning, the academy nurtures curiosity, instils respect and responsibility, and helps students grow into confident, capable individuals.
With its first branch launched in Cumilla in 2019, BRAC Academy now operates in Cumilla, Bogura, Rajshahi, and Dhaka, and will expand to Chattogram, Sylhet, Jashore, and Noakhali later this month. Its primary aim is to provide affordable, quality education to children in district towns and urban centres.

On Thursday, 8 January, the BRAC Academy in Dakshinkhan, Dhaka, was formally inaugurated by Tamara Hasan Abed, Managing Director of BRAC Enterprises. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, she said that quality education requires more than school buildings or infrastructure; it demands authentic, research-based learning. Drawing on BRAC’s long-standing experience in the country’s education sector, BRAC Academy has been established to ensure that children receive education of international standards.

Referring to the heavy emphasis on memorisation in the existing education system, Tamara Hasan Abed noted that for the country to move forward, it needs well-rounded and creative individuals. She added that BRAC Academy is providing meaningful education that encourages children to think and express themselves, while fostering self-confidence.
In his closing remarks, Safi Rahman Khan, Director of BRAC’s Education, Skills Development and Migration Programme, said that while pass rates in various examinations have increased and the number of universities has grown, the development of skills and critical thinking remains limited. He said BRAC Academy aims to nurture children in a way that enables them to think independently and make their own decisions.
The opening remarks were delivered by Niveen Reza, Head of Social Enterprise at BRAC’s Education Programme. She said that the activities and approach of BRAC Academy have been designed in line with the education systems followed by countries with advanced education sectors.
Parents Fakhrunnesa Lima and Ishrat Jahan also shared their reflections. Guests at the event enjoyed cultural performances presented by the academy’s students. Prior to this, guests explored the entire campus.

BRAC Academy offers primary education from Play Group to Grade Five for children aged four years and above. It follows a bilingual Bangla–English system, with a strong focus on Bangla while gradually introducing English through age-appropriate activities, enabling students to develop effective communication skills in both languages.
Alongside the national curriculum, BRAC Academy supports students in building essential life skills. Its learning materials meet global standards while remaining adapted to the Bangladeshi context.

BRAC Academy aims to prepare the younger generation for future leadership roles. With a vision to establish a child-centred and affordable education network across Bangladesh, the academy seeks to provide quality education for middle-income families as a credible alternative to costly private schools.
