Addressing harassment through safety and awareness
80% of female garment workers and almost three-quarters of female students report experiences of harassment or abuse.
BRAC works to strengthen safety in workplaces in Bangladesh by fostering a culture of safety and safeguarding. Our approach combines policy enforcement with cultural transformation, training workers, students, and managers in harassment prevention and mobilising men at grassroots hubs like tea stalls. For less than $1 per employee per year, we support factories to strengthen their occupational safety and health systems. With just $8, BRAC equips a woman worker with the supervisory skills she needs to lead with confidence.
