The Global Fund recently has decided to allocate additional funding to Bangladesh for addressing COVID 19 response and mitigate the impact on TB, HIV and Malaria. Bangladesh Country Coordinating Mechanism (BCCM) decided to go ahead with the full application to mitigate the impact on TB, HIV and Malaria.
The BCCM decided to make a fast track application focusing on 2 priorities: Diagnostics and Oxygen plants (therapeutic) of COVID 19. Large funding is allocated for establishing around 30 PSA Oxygen plants in large hospitals in Dhaka, Chattagram, Narayanganj etc. The National Malaria Elimination Programme – NMEP (under CDC, DGHS) will lead the fast track application, while the National TB programme (NTP) will lead the full application to mitigate the impact on TB, HIV and Malaria and to be submitted within June 2021.
The aim of this funding is to respond to COVID 19 and to mitigate the impact of COVID 19 on TB, HIV and Malaria control/elimination intervention.
Now, the funding request from Bangladesh has been opened for public comments/feedback. Please see the funding request document here.
