2015 was a transformative year for BRAC, with three critical drivers of change. The global sustainable development goals were introduced. We finished the first phase and planned the second phase of our Strategic Partnership Agreement. In parallel with these two developments, our last five-year strategy ended and we developed our strategy for the next five years. We expanded our reach to cover twelve countries, starting operations in Nepal after the earthquake. We now touch the lives of one in every 50 people across the world.

Voter ID to reach out for government aid


BRAC has urged the government to undertake long-term measures to sustainably solve the ongoing food shortage in the remote Thanchi upazila of Bandarban. Among a number of recommendations it has made includes urgent measure to issue voter identity cards to the citizens inhabiting remotest part of the upazila, which will ensure proper distribution of the government food aid.

Vision centres for free eye care for the ultra poor

BRAC and the Orbis International, with the support of Qatar Development Fund, has signed an agreement today for extending quality modern eye care treatment for the ultra poor. It aims to strengthen community eye health services across four districts, increasing access to eye care for children in Bangladesh. This activity forms part of a new initiative called Qatar Creating Vision (QCV).
