Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same. Death is an inevitable state of transition. Not all lives can be celebrated. Let us celebrate the life of Sir Fazle and take the mourning behind us. Salut au grand homme!‬

Remembering Sir Fazle

Sir Fazle Abed is the most respected person in my life next to my late Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. I spent many meetings learning his humility and simple wisdom. Death is a given. We all die eventually. Abed reminds us that service to humanity is the highest value for our time on this planet. On my last day, I want to say, "It was a useful journey and I did not waste the opportunity to serve."

Eulogy

He knew how to listen, iterate, and generate an actionable, always collaborative solution to the most difficult problems faced by the most exploited and marginalized. A giant among men, he made a positive difference in the lives of countless millions mourning his passing the bottom of their broken hearts at this very moment, no matter where they happen to be in Bangladesh and well beyond our political borders. A man of rare presence beautifully tempered by an authentic confluence of exemplary humility, resilience, and gratitude, his insatiable desire to empower the disempowered came from the deepest resonance of cognitive and emotional empathy only saints seem to possess and nurture. There won`t be another. Rest in peace, Abed Bhai, knowing that your journey in this transient and dystopic Duniya will continue.

About Late.SIR ABED

SIR ABED has gone from this world for life long. It is a great loss for all of us. I remember that -in 1980 when I was a student of class 8 , I saw him at PUBNA BRAC Branch where he visited the branch members. He did many productive functions in BRAC towards the development of women /children/education /many fields. May Almighty God/Allah grants Late SIR ABED Jannath /Heaven. Respectfully. Missing his inspirational speech

I was one of the founding academics at BRAC University back in 2001. At the beginning phase we had to face many challenges to start residential semester at Savar. I still remember Sir Fazle Hasan Abed’s motivational speech, which also inspired us to overcome the challenges! His speech at the graduation ceremony or at his own office always inspired me! I’m one of the luckiest persons to serve BRAC University from the beginning and had a chance to meet him time to time. It’s a great lost for not only brac family or Bangladesh but also the entire world where person like Sir Abed needed more! I mourned the death of him and also wish for his family and friends to bear such pain in this difficult time! Salute you Sir Abed Bahai, you will remain in my heart forever!

A True Pioneer

Today, the world has lost a true pioneer in the field of anti-poverty movement. Mr. Fazle Abed has shown everyone how to empower the poorest of the poor with knowledge, skills, and abilities. BRAC, I hope will continue to fill the void left by his demise.
