Monitoring unit is a part of BRAC's internal control mechanism. The monitoring unit first started under the oral therapy extension programme in 1980. It started working as a cell within the rural development programme in 1988. Due to it's growing demand, it became an independent unit in the late 1990s.The monitoring unit provides support to BRAC's development programmes, supporting departments and enterprises. The unit's objective is to conduct periodic analysis, enabling the management to determine whether the key activities are being carried out as planned and whether they are having the expected impact on the target population.
