Village development organisations supported by BRAC recognised as best cooperatives

On 48th National Cooperative Day in Bangladesh, organisations created through the Jibika project supported by BRAC and Chevron won multiple awards in greater Sylhet from the Department of Cooperatives. Approximately 200 Village development organisation (VDO) members actively participated in the four fairs that took place in the four sub-districts of Sylhet, Sreemangal, Kamalganj and Nabiganj.

The VDOs were formed through Jibika, as part of BRAC’s Integrated Development Programme (IDP), a collaboration between BRAC and Chevron, initiated in 2015 to improve the socio-economic conditions of the community living surrounding the Chevron-operated gas field areas in greater Sylhet.
