“I work to keep your cities clean.
A few years ago, I migrated from my village to Dhaka, to seek better livelihood opportunities. Since then, I have been working as a waste management worker in the city’s streets. My work is integral for recycling and proper waste disposal.
I got pregnant a few months ago, and it became difficult for me to continue the grueling work. I also did not have adequate access to affordable healthcare facilities near my home in Korail, one of the largest slums in Dhaka.
That is when I learned about BRAC’s health camps – situated right here in Korail.
Now I am receiving regular health check-ups, vitamin supplements and basic medication from the camp. I am going through a healthy pregnancy, and I am eagerly waiting to hold my baby in my arms.”
