To increase the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines, three modalities are engaged: registration and mobilisation, awareness campaigns, and debunking misinformation.
Considering the limitations of internet access and digital literacy in many rural and hard-to-reach regions, community health workers facilitate registration on the government-designated website for vaccination (https://surokkha.gov.bd/). When necessary, they support people to travel to the designated vaccination centres and provide advice on management of side effects. 700 health workers are directly supporting the government to administer vaccines as well. Health workers also debunk myths and rumours that create resistance to receive the vaccine.
Mass media, social media and local information campaigns are also integral to the vaccination drive. Vaccine awareness is disseminated through traditional outlets such as television, radio and newspapers, in addition to popular social media outlets such as Facebook and Youtube. In strategic spots where communities generally convene, local level miking is also conducted.
