To slow down the spread of COVID-19, we implement a three-pronged risk communication intervention all over the country - household education, community ownership and orientation of local leaders.
Through household-level education, we sensitise communities on handwashing, mask wearing and social distancing. To enable people to practise COVID-19-compliant behaviour, we provide masks and soap to families and establish handwashing stations at public spaces.
We also create community ownership through Community Corona Protection Committees (CCPCs) - groups of local figures who push for awareness and monitoring within their respective communities.
In addition to the above, we orient locally-influential individuals to spread awareness. We convey risk communication messaging in public spaces such as mosques, markets, transport hubs through billboards, banners and miking.
This hyper-local approach prevents clusters of infection at the grassroots level, eventually containing the spread.
