BRAC Wins 2006 CGAP Financial Transparency Award

DHAKA, BANGLADESH, 12 March 2007 – The Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) has awarded BRAC, for the third year in a row, the Financial Transparency Award for 2006, its top award for achieving highest standards in financial disclosure. The award, in which 231 microfinance institutions from 62 countries entered this year, carries a $10,000 cash prize and is given based on disclosure requirements of International Financial Reporting Standards and microfinance-industry-specific CGAP disclosure guidelines. BRAC Health Programme Awarded Gates Foundation Grant for Urban Community Health Programme

DHAKA, BANGLADESH, 29 January 2007 – BRAC has recently started Manoshi, a community health care initiative aimed at reducing maternal, neonatal and child mortality in the urban slums of Bangladesh through the development of effective models of health care delivery, including an integrated package of essential health services.
