BRAC has initiated extensive emergency relief operations in the immediate aftermath of cyclone SIDR. From its own funds, an initial commitment of USD 1 million (approximately Tk. 7 crore) has already been made by BRAC towards providing relief to the victims and for livelihood rehabilitation operations. BRAC hopes to mobilise an additional USD 1 million (approximately Tk. 7 crore) for disaster relief. BRAC is also planning extensive housing rehabilitation operations to follow the emergency relief work.

Over 2,500 BRAC staff have already been deployed to provide round-the-clock relief in 11 of the worst-affected districts, which include Borguna, Patuakhali, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Bhola, Barisal, Jhalakathi, Khulna, Gopalganj, Shariatpur and Madaripur.

In these areas, BRAC is already distributing food and other relief items to cyclone victims, particularly those seeking refuge in cyclone shelters and BRAC offices. A fund of Tk. 500 per household is also being distributed to those whose houses were destroyed or damaged by the cyclone. In addition, ten dedicated medical teams, equipped with emergency medical supplies, have been sent to the affected areas to provide emergency medical care.

BRAC is appealing to donors for additional funds to aid the victims of cyclone SIDR.
