01 January 2010, Dhaka. As a follow up of ‘Intra School Debate Competition 2010’ and ‘Inter College Debate Competition 2010’, BRAC Advocacy Unit organised a three-day long field visit from 27 to 29 December 2010 at Shathia Upazila in Pabna district. Ten students and two teachers from Dhaka Cantonment Girls Public School & College, The New School and Youth Forum Members of University of Dhaka & Dhaka College participated in the field visit to experience and learn about the real poverty situation of Bangladesh. During these three days they observed different BRAC activities like popular theater, community meeting, Jogajog (Communication) forum meeting, pre-primary School, community initiative, selection process of the STUP (Specially Targeted Ultra Poor) members, health support, (Human Rights and Legal Aid Services),non-graduate and graduate programme participants, and school fund follow-up by students etc. They also participated in the group discussion session at Training and Resource Centre (TARC), at Bogra. The students will submit a report and on their field visit. We strongly believe such involvement in a national agenda like Ultra Poverty will engage the students as ambassadors of social change both at a family and community level.
