One of the common practices in Afghan armed conflict is the participation if children as soldiers. BRAC has been working with the Child Protection Unit of UNICEF and WFP to address the issue of prevention of child soldiers and the development of the youth. BRAC Staff conducts specific vocational and technical trainings funded by UNICEF to reintegrate child soldiers into the community. BRAC follows a process of identification, community sensitization, documentation, medical screening, training and job placement for child soldiers and war-affected youth. One of the main goals of this programme is to end the recruitment and use of children and young people in armed conflicts. The programme supports social and economic reintegration of ex-child soldiers for long term security of Afghanistan. |
