BRAC Sri Lanka

In response to the devastating tsunami in December 2004 that ravaged many coastal towns throughout South-East Asia, BRAC initiated emergency response operations in the worst hit regions of Sri Lanka with relief and emergency livelihood support. After the emergency had subsided,we evolved our emergency grant programme into a development strategy. We are also strengthening the capacity of local NGOs to implement microfinance programmes themselves.
