Objectives of Mentoring Programme?
The core objectives of Mentoring Programme are to
- Ensure students’ regular attendance in the class and participation in the examinations;
- Develop cooperative learning attitude among students and making their learning enjoyable;
- Develop students’ capacity for peer support;
- Help students to be attentive to their study;
- Build up students’ communication skill;
- Develop self-esteem, leadership and creativity in students;
- Create better conditions for participatory classroom teaching/learning
Activities in Mentoring Progarmme?
- Along with a teacher students receive a six-day residential training ;
- From each school 25 to 30 students of grades VI to IX, whose roll numbers are within 1 to 10, are selected for the training;
- If possible the ratio of boys and girls student is kept 50:50;
- The training contains sessions on values education, mentoring, and co-curricular activities such as debate, creative writing, games and sports, and computers;
- After training, the mentors form small groups in their individual grade, and provide social and academic assistance to weak fellow-students.
