Research on youth

Uganda has the world’s youngest population. 56 percent of its population is below the age of 18. Adolescents (aged between 10 and 19) account for 28 percent of the population.

This ‘youth bulge’ is a matter of national interest for Uganda. Guided by this demographic shift, BRAC has been implementing a programme called Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents. The Research and Evaluation Unit has also made youth a central theme in it’s research agenda.

There are currently two research projects on youth undertaken by the Unit
