BRAC started its work 40 years ago through the rehabilitation of households who went to India
during the Liberation War. Since then, we have been with Bangladesh pursuing an inclusive development strategy, along with our global community, on the path towards
progress and development. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we look forward to further growth with strength complimenting government’s efforts in alleviating
poverty and empowerment of women.
BRAC has initiated programs for the growing population of the adolescent and youth (especially girls), not only because they make up nearly one-third of the world’s
population but are also our future leaders who need urgent support and policy attention. It is important that we share the knowledge underpinning the evolution and
adaptation, and discuss new opportunities, to design better, integrated and
effective programs to empower and unleash the potential of this age group.
Global Learning Meeting was organized on the 7th and 8th of February, 2012 at Rajendrapur, Bangladesh, to accomplish this exchange of knowledge. Development
partners, international and national practitioners and experts, private sector, government representatives, civil society members, and the senior management and staff
from 10 countries BRAC operates in, participated in this global meeting.
