ELA

Taking advantage of the ELA clubs and their young enthusiastic members, BRAC piloted a programme on increasing the usage of mosquito nets. ELA members were provided with hand held mikes and asked to remind communities to use mosquito nets. Based on this initiative, the Research and Evaluation Unit has undertaken a research to explore if regular reminders are an effective means of increasing the usage of mosquito nets. With malaria being one of the most severe health risks in Uganda, the results of this research have important implications.

The design of the research is based on a RCT methodology. It is being conducted in 1200 households. The baseline was conducted in 2010 and the end-line has been completed in 2011.
