In 2009, BRAC UK started a development awareness project involving disadvantaged and marginalised communities in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Over the next three years, we will be involving 2,000 young people aged between 18-25 years in activities that increase their knowledge and skills about international development. This in turn will help to impact their role in reaching out to the wider public with their own messages.
The project promotes the importance of the Millennium Development Goals while giving scope for the young people’s creativity and individual interpretations of priorities and needs.
From the initial 2,000 participants, we will select 200 dedicated young people to become advocates for international development who will then be supported to receive further training and skills development.
The project is funded for three years by the Department for International Development in the UK.
