Bangladesh: Health: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Prompted by the rising need for access to safe and clean water and sanitation services,  BRAC started an integrated water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programme  in 2006. We are currently  making progress in improving water supplies and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, and also promoting safe hygiene practices, all of which advance the Millennium Development Goals for water and sanitation. The programme is involved in:

• Capacity building
• Initiating cluster meetings on hygiene education
• Activating village WASH committees
• Conducting Advocacy Workshops
• Developing local entrepreneurship 
• Educating schools on sanitation and hygiene
