Health Centres
BRAC Health Centres (Shushasthyas) were started in 1995 as an effort to strengthen community based health interventions and render better curative services to underserved areas of Bangladesh. 9 of the health centres, mostly located at district headquarters, have upgrade facilities that offer comprehensive emergency obstetrical (caesarean) and neonatal care; minor surgery and sophisticated investigations services, e.g. ECG and Ultrasonography. 22 basic health centres are providing out patient consultation, simple indoor services and general laboratory investigations. Addition to that, essential life saving drugs are also available.
Limb & Brace Fitting Centres
Since its inception in 2002, BRAC Limb and Brace Fitting Centers (BLBC) at Dhaka and Mymensingh provide low cost, user-friendly, quality artificial limbs and braces; and physiotherapy services to people with physical disabilities. These efforts not only improve their livelihood capabilities but also improve their integration in mainstream society.
Micro Health Insurance Project
With the goal to empower and improve the well being of poor women and their families by promoting their access to affordable and quality health care, in 2001, BRAC started a Micro Health Insurance Project for the poor in Madhabdi upazilla of Narsingdi district.
