BRAC started its operations in Philippines in January 2012 with an aim to establish over 2,000 schools during the five-year Alternative Delivery Model (ADM) project. The initiative aims to improve access to quality basic education to over 60,000 out-of-school children in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
BRAC, in partnership with the Philippines’ Department of Education and the Australian government, is implementing the ADM project as a component of the Basic Education Assistance in Muslim Mindanao (BEAM) programme. Primarily using the BRAC education model, the project provides out-of-school children in disadvantaged communities the access to basic formal education in BRAC Learning Centres. In partnership with local NGOs, BRAC Philippines operates learning centers, which offer kindergarten and elementary education using the national curriculum.
